Tax Authority head Shai Aharonovich warned of a worsening housing-market crisis. He said the state could take emergency steps, including easing purchase tax (mas rechisha), if the slowdown deepens. He also supports reinstating property tax on vacant land, amid a need for an additional 30–40 billion shekels in annual revenue, while a contractors' leader expects housing starts to keep falling.

What it means for buyers abroad

Purchase tax relief is only a possibility, not a decision. Buyers abroad should follow official announcements before assuming any change in costs.
