Tax Authority head sees no tax cuts in 2027, backs vacant-land levy
5 November 2026 · Based on Globes

Shai Aharonovich, head of the Israel Tax Authority, said at the Real Estate conference in Eilat that he does not foresee tax cuts in 2027. He said about NIS 40 billion in additional sources of funding will be needed next year. He supports an annual tax on vacant land and a duty to report rental income, and estimates that fighting the shadow economy could bring in another NIS 7-8 billion a year.
What it means for buyers abroad
Buyers abroad should not count on tax relief next year, and rules on rental income reporting and land holding may tighten. Check the current tax treatment of any planned purchase with an Israeli tax adviser.
