The director general of the Housing Ministry said the first 2,000 housing units in Safed's new "Southern Gate" district will be marketed by the end of 2026. The district is planned to include about 4,000 units in total, plus 32,000 sq m for employment, 15,000 sq m for retail and a new entrance to the city from Route 89. The mayor said the project is moving from planning to marketing and execution.
What it means for buyers abroad
This is a northern project far from the Tel Aviv area, so it matters mainly to those looking at the wider national supply of new homes. Timelines for marketing are stated targets, not guarantees.
